Abstract: In many companies the migration from CVS to SVN is under preparation. Especially for distributed development teams CollabNet offers more advantages than when SVN is used only. The author’s company decided to introduce CollabNet in conjunction with HP Quality Center for their configuration management needs. Eight sites around the globe with 150 software engineers needed to cross the Rubicon. Which experiences were made? What went smoothly and what were potential pitfalls?

Jörg Schüttemeyer has been working for ADVA AG Optical Networking as Director Software Development in the area of optical engineering since 2000. He is currently responsible for the software development at six different sites in Europe and the US. Moreover Mr. Schüttemeyer is actively driving the software process definitions, is responsible for the software configuration management and test automation process for the company’s main product line.

Until 2006 he managed multiple combined hardware and software projects, actively defined the software architecture of two products and was part of the overall product system definition.

Mr. Schüttemeyer studied electrical engineering in Berlin focusing on telecommunication engineering from 1987 until 1994. He is now located in Atlanta, Georgia (USA).

Mike Mezeul has been with ADVA as Senior Director of Software Development and Global SCM since 2002. He is currently responsible for Software development on the Ethernet Access side of ADVA and manages a project in China as well. Mr. Mezeul is also responsible for global SCM and has responsibility for introducing CollabNet and Subversion within the company and rolling it out to all of ADVA’s development sites world-wide.

Mr. Mezeul studied Computer Science at the University of Dallas and is currently located in Richardson, Texas (USA).
